Job Description:
As a leading multi-disciplinary consultancy offering services to the built, natural and social environment, our client is an exciting and dynamic place to work. They have a large environmental department that provides a comprehensive range of solutions and advice to environmental issues. They currently have an exciting opportunity for a Geo-environmental Consultant to join their Nottingham based office.

The ideal candidate will have excellent technical skills and will have experience of managing multidisciplinary and complete projects. The preferred candidate will have a bias towards contaminated land investigation, remediation design, supervision and management and ideally will have some contractual awareness.

Key duties will include the following:

The supervision and management of site investigations including costing and procuring work from sub-contractors (will involve working away from home from time to time)
The design of contaminated land site investigations
Preparation of Health & Safety Documentation
Logging of soil and rock in accordance with BS5930:1999, Amendment 1, BS EN ISO 14688 and BS EN ISO 14689
Factual Reporting
Interpretative reporting
Supervision of remediation works

You will be reporting to a senior member of the Nottingham management team, and must have the ability to work within a team on a project basis that may include staff from other related disciplines. You will also act as a point of contact for new and existing clients, and will design, procure and project manage Geo-Environmental site investigations.

The ideal candidate will have the following experience:

A first degree in geology or similar, with 3 to 5 years of relevant experience with a bias to site investigation
Good written and verbal communication skills
Willing to work unsociable hours from time to time
Understanding of the Construction Design & Management Regulations (2007) and their applicability to ground investigation contracts
Strong interpersonal / team working skills, with a good working relationship with all levels of the organisation, clients and contractors
Ability to log soil and rock in accordance with BS5930:1999, Amendment 1, BS EN ISO 14688 and BS EN ISO 14689

A Masters degree in contaminated land, environmental science, hydrogeology or a related subject would be desirable, as well as specific experience/ qualifications on National Grid/ MoD/ Environment Agency sites. Experience of portfolio management and key client contact, knowledge of environmental law and regulatory guidance, IOSH Safe Supervision course, First Aid and CSCS qualification and experience of undertaking contaminated land assessments would also be advantageous.
