Job Description:
Our client is currently seeking to make a senior appointment for a motivated and highly skilled Director to lead their Geo-Environmental business in the NW Region based out of Manchester with a remit to grow the existing team and develop geo-environmental teams in the various NW regional offices.

Due to increasing market activity and to meet the needs of their future growth plans, they wish to increase their ability to deliver technical excellence and focused geo-environmental solutions for their growing client base.

This is an excellent opportunity for a high-calibre individual to join the clients Geo-Environmental team and lead them during an exciting period of growth and development.

The successful candidate will drive key client management/development and will be entrusted with growing the already successful NW team and will play a key role (as part of the Senior Management team) in the strategic direction and development of the Geo-Environmental Business, a discipline which now has over 100 geo-environmental professionals nationally.

The available position would suit those with an existing background in environmental geo-science and/or remediation who would like to further develop their leadership skills and already successful career in technical consultancy and client management.

As a Director, you should already possess significant and demonstrable post-graduate geo-environmental experience and participation in large scale multi-disciplinary projects. You will also be expected to;
play a key role in the leadership of the geo-environmental team and the day to day management and delivery of large scale, complex projects;

have a demonstrable track record in contaminated land management and business leadership, be enthusiastic, confident, self-motivated and dynamic with excellent verbal and written communication skills;

have significant experience and contacts within the private residential and commercial sectors which is an area we are targeting for growth;

Responsibilities & Essential Criteria will include (but are not limited to):

Project management of a wide range of development projects, including residential, commercial and industrial sectors;

Have a detailed understanding of commonly used forms of contract (NEC, ICE, etc.) and an ability to negotiate favourable contract terms;

Provide leadership within discipline area on business risks and actively develops operational strategies in conjunction with the senior management team;

Manage financial performance of projects and the team to achieve budget targets and maintain key performance indicators;

Awareness, understanding and contributes to the business strategy and drivers;

Able to work with a range of specialist professionals to deliver multi-disciplinary projects;

Able to build rapport and relationships with peers to develop good working relationships with the wider team;

Has the ability to effectively coach and mentor others;

Business development skills with proven ability to actively seek new commercial opportunities (clients and markets) and develop and maintain client relationships;

Pro-actively seeks out events to attend, speak at and host;

Able to lead client meetings and calls;

Take responsibility for major bid preparation and ensure proposal meets the needs and objectives of the client;

Proven track record in developing winning proposals and bids;

Actively seeks out, encourages and develops cross selling opportunities;

Take a customer led approach to delivery and is able to communicate client needs to the team;

Take the initiative, self-motivating and able to ask questions when unclear what is expected;

Communicate openly and provide clear and concise responses to questions;

Problem solving and planning skills with ability to find innovative and practical solutions;

Cascade complex business issues to wider teams in appropriate manner;

Line management; including staff mentoring, appraisals and training & team management;

Effectively manage communication and reinforce the positive culture and values of the business with others;

Maintain a positive and confident demeanour when change occurs. leads the management of change;
Lead by example.

Technical Knowledge:
Experience designing and undertaking complex, large scale site investigations including sampling and monitoring programmes;
Ability to review and critically analyse technical data in order to develop holistic and integrated conceptual models and complete Generic Quantitative Risk Assessments for both human health and controlled waters purposes;
Can review reports, assess the technical approach and determine compliance with the needs/contract terms of the client;
Acts as a trusted advisor to clients and provides technical leadership to the team;
Ability to prepare accurate, concise and well written technical reports;
Actively participates in Business Development, Technical & Management Meetings;
Understanding of HSE requirements, responsibilities and safe systems of work.
